Example Use Case Scenario
1. The CHW visits and examines the neonate.
2. The CHW inputs the neonate’s history information into the mobile phone.
3. The information is sent to a centralized system for epidemiological tracking of neonates in the area.
4. The CHW leaves the device with the neonate’s family.
5. SepSock collects continuous heart rate data.
6. The data collected is processed in situ by a microcontroller using the SepScore algorithm.
7. During feeding, a family member connects a mobile phone to the small box containing the microcontroller.
8. The phone sends the SepScore via an audio jack to the centralized system. In case of sepsis, the SepScore will also be sent to the CHW to alert her/him that the neonate has sepsis.
9. The neonate receives more prompt medical treatment.
